Historian Jesse Hurlbut says of this time of transformation [the Great Apostasy]: "We name the last generation of the first century, from 68 to 100 A.D., 'The Age of Shadows,' partly because the gloom of persecution was over the church, but more especially because of all the periods in the [church's] history, it is the one about which we know the least. We have no longer the clear light of the Book of Acts to guide us; and no author of that age has filled the blank in the history . . .
"For fifty years after St. Paul's life a curtain hangs over the church, through which we strive vainly to look; and when at last it rises, about 120 A.D. with the writings of the earliest church fathers, we find a church in many aspects very different from that in the days of St. Peter and St. Paul" ( The Story of the Christian Church, 1970, p. 33).

Welcome. We don't have a list of rules, but here's the deal:
Everyone here is a guest in my "house," thus everyone should conduct themselves as if they were in my home. If you use language that is inappropriate, disrespectful, or hostile, you'll be asked to leave. If you came here for a fight, you'll be asked to leave.

The Society for the Prevention of Anti-Mormonism is not in any way sanctioned by or affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The views expressed are those of the authors and contributors and do not reflect the official doctrines or teachings of the Church. S.P.A.M. is not an apologetics site. We focus the spotlight on anti-Mormon activity. We use facts with humor, irony, and occasionally sarcasm to make our points. We understand that anti-Mormons don't like to have their works dragged out into the light of day. To understand why we do this, please read Doctrine and Covenants Section 123. If you are offended by anything you read here, you probably deserve to be.

1. Use of non-authoritative sources and out-of-context quotations
2. Attack the story of the Book of Mormon's origin, not its contents
3. Distort Mormon doctrines by comparing them to the unscriptural teachings of Christian creeds
4. When all else fails, lie!
5. Use slander, personal attacks, and character assassination
6. Accuse your opponent of doing the very thing you are doing
